Code War 2009 Round 1 Question 3

And now for the third question from round 1, which harks back to the final ASCII decoding question from 2008. The actual answer is straightforward but the question is probably the shortest and most cryptic we've had in the competition to date...

Hmm, notice how every second letter seems to make sense? Think checkerboard... ( I will post the solution up tonight Sydney time :-) ).
